The Troll Wall

The Troll Wall "Trollveggen" is the highest vertical rock wall in Northern Europe, and has attracted both climbers, hikers and base jumpers for decades.

Romsdalen is long and narrow with majestic towering mountains on either side. The spectacular peaks of Trolltindene reach heights of over 1,700 metres, and have challenged climbers for decades. Trollveggen is Northern Europe's highest vertical, overhanging mountainside at 1,000 metres.

Some of the world's most difficult climbs

Scandinavian mountaineering started in the Romsdal mountains, and has some of the world's most difficult climbs. In the eighties, base jumping with a parachute was banned at this location after a series of accidents with very expensive rescue operations. But Trollveggen is still a very attractive place for climbers and tourists.

Experience Romsdalshornet and Romsdalen

On the opposite side of the valley towers Romsdalshornet with its 1,550 metres. This is a very popular climbing trip for both locals and long-distance travellers. At the foot of the Trollveggen there is a large rest area with a nice cafeteria, souvenir shop and toilets. It is recommended that you make a stop at the Trollveggen Visitor Centre, where you can also watch the incredible film about the history of the Trollveggen with base jumping. Outside there is a popular children's play area and a fantastic view of the mountains.
