Kylling Bridge

40 Kilometers From Åndalsnes is The Kylling Bridge. The railway bridge is, among other things, made of hand-hewn stone, and is therefore called "A Tiger's Leap In Stone". From the main road, there is a marked path up to the lookout point towards the bridge.

The Rauma railway has several fascinating bridges. The longest on the road between Dombås and Åndalsnes is Jora bridge followed by Kylling bridge. The latter is among the best-knows Norwegian Railway Bridges, and is one of the largest single structures on the Rauma Line. The bridge is located at the farm Kylling on Verma in Romsdalen.

Engineering Art

The bridge crosses the Rauma river, which is the longest in Møre and Romsdal county. The stone used during the construction process had to be of a high standard to ensure it could withstand the stress of the railway and trains. Kylling bridge is 76 meters long, and is built of stone from the mountains in the immediate area.
